Small drilled pirate glass earrings, very old historic sea glass FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE
Handmade earrings made from two very small pieces of pirate glass which I have drilled. The pieces of glass are each around five eighths of an inch long and are quite thin so they are not at all heavy. The ear wires are silver plated. Please see the second picture for the glass with a bright light shining through it.
Pirate glass is seaglass which is many hundreds of years old and has slowly been worn into pleasingly smooth shapes by the sea. It usually appears black until you shine a bright light through it (the torch on a phone is best, as it is small and incredibly bright). It is hard stuff to find as on the beach it looks like a pebble. It takes a while to learn to spot it, but once you get your eye in you can find two or three pieces in one trip, if you know the right spots to look! I collect my pirate glass along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is time consuming, but a real thrill every time I find a piece.
Somebody suggested I try making earrings, so I thought I would give it a go with some of the smaller pieces I had been hoarding. Success! I am happy with how they turned out.
