Collected in Whitehaven, large pirate glass necklace, historic seaglass macrame pendant, with carnelian, jasper and wood beads FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE
This necklace is from the batch of pirate glass I found near the historic port of Whitehaven on the north west coast of England. This was one of the most important ports in the country during the 1600s and 1700s, which is the period that pirate glass is mostly from.
Large pirate glass macrame necklace threaded onto an adjustable length woven cotton cord with green jade, aventurine and wood beads.
The piece of pirate glass on this necklace is just over an inch and a quarter long. Please see the second picture for the glass with a bright light shining through it.
Pirate glass is seaglass which is hundreds of years old and has slowly been worn into pleasingly smooth shapes by the sea. It appears black until you shine a bright light through it (the torch on a phone is best, as it is small and incredibly bright). It is hard to find as on the beach it looks like a pebble. It takes a while to learn to spot it, but once you get your eye in you can find two or three pieces in one trip, if you know the right spots to look! I collect my pirate glass along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is time consuming, but a real thrill every time I find a piece.
I have turned this piece of pirate glass into a macrame pendant, netting it in a similar way to an old glass fishing bouy, and threaded it with a selection of beads selected to really set it off.
This necklace is one of a kind and you will always be sent the one in the current pictures. All items come with free shipping unless specifically stated otherwise and are shipped in one to three business days using Royal Mail.
Thank you for looking. Peace.
