Fully beaded pirate glass macrame necklace with Baltic amber, wood and little dyed bone spacer beads. Threaded onto strong cord with a sturdy lobster clasp. The little bone beads are upcycled from older jewellery.
The piece of pirate glass on this necklace is just under an inch long. This short necklace is 18 inches long. Please see the second image for the glass with a bright light shining through it.
Pirate glass is seaglass which is many hundreds of years old and has slowly been worn into pleasingly smooth shapes by the sea. It appears black until you shine a bright light through it (the torch on a phone is best, as it is small and incredibly bright). It is hard to find as on the beach it looks like a pebble. It takes a while to learn to spot it, but once you get your eye in you can find two or three pieces in one trip, if you know the right spots to look! I collect my pirate glass along the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is time consuming, but a real thrill every time I find a piece.
